In a 1978 Ford Mustang II :
There were ( 3 ) engines available depending on the model :
A 2.3 liter / 140 cubic inch four cylinder
A 2.8 liter / 171 cubic inch V6 and
A 5.0 liter / 302 cubic inch V8 ( non High Output )
For a 2004 Ford Mustang : It was the 40th anniversary of the Ford Mustang , and I believe they called the Over Head Valve , V6 engine a 3.9 liter instead of the usual 3.8 liter
A 2000 Ford Mustang GT has the 4.6 litre Single Over Head Cam , V8 engine from the factory ( 281 cubic inches ) If you look at the 8th " character " of the VIN : " W " means the engine in your 2000 Ford Mustang GT was made in Romeo , Michigan , USA " X " means the engine in your 2000 Ford Mustang GT was made in Windsor , Ontario , Canada
I believe that was an ( A4LD ) automatic transmission with the 4 cylinder engine on a 1989 Ford Mustang
