Any environment it was bred to live in. For example, Angus do best on grassland where there's a defined 4 seasons, or on the pastures in Britian. Tarentaise, Simmental and Brown Swiss are cattle that do well on rich pastures in the mountains and hilly terrain. Brahman, Indu-Brazil, Africander and Nelore cattle do best in hot and humid environments, like in the Deep South of the USA, the climate near the equator in South America, or even in hot desert environments like in West Africa. Holsteins are bred to depend on humans, so any environment where they can be housed in a barn, fed high quality feed and be milked daily are ideal for them. Herefords, on the other hand, are very versatile and adaptable to the conditions they are able to live in. They can survive in the hot deserts like around Arizona, live comfortably in the mountains and in hilly terrain, or even in hot humid areas like the Everglades in Florida. They are even found as far south as South Africa in Africa.
