People in Bangladesh eat a great variety of foods, but I will focus on traditional foods. Traditional Bangladeshi foods include rice, chicken cooked in spices, lentils, curried fish, sauteed and lightly spiced green vegetables (such as green beans and Okra). Potatoes are often included in cooked dishes because most things are cooked in a light sauce, and the potatoes are able absorb the flavor of the sauce. Bangladesh is also known for its sweets, which are mostly milk-or butter-based dessert sweetmeats that are usually moist, pressure-cooked desserts, usually in spherical or oval shapes. A popular example of these desserts is a sweet called rasamalai or rosh malai, which is served in a creamy, milky sauce.
