A 2002 model year vehicle will use R134a refrigerant.
R-134A Technically, Freon refers to the older refrigerant. The new stuf is called "134A Refrigerant"... and that's what all newer vehicles use.

It does not use freon. It uses R134A refrigerant, as do all newer cars since sometime in the '90s.
