Unless this is a Flex Fuel vehicle you should not use E85 and should use only gasoline with 10% or less Ethanol. There is no additive to help.

Does BP Amoco gasoline contain ethanol?

The only way to tell whether ethanol is present in gasoline is to look at the gasoline pump. If it contains ethanol, there should be a large sticker on it stating what percentage of ethanol is in the gasoline.

How much ethanol is in regular gasoline?

In regular gasoline, there is no ethanol. If the pump indicates the gasoline is E10, it contains 10% ethanol and by law it should be indicated by a sticker on the pump. Some states mandate all pump fuel to have ethanol. Most recent auto engines can handle E10 gas, but it should be avoided for marine applications. E10 gas can damage engines not designed for it.

What is used to produce gasohol?

Gasohol is a blend of usually around 90% gasoline and 10% anhydrous ethanol. Blends can vary greatly, but gasoline should always be the majority. The ethanol used is derived from fermenting crops.

Can a 1994 Subaru Leagacy Station Wagon run on alternative fuel such as ethanol or biodiesel?

The 1994 Subaru Legacy was designed to run on regular unleaded gasoline. It cannot use diesel fuel or biodiesel fuel in its engine !! The most available alternative fuel in the US for gasoline is ethanol. This engine should easily tolerate ethanol up to a 10% ethanol/90% gasoline blend. You should be careful about using ethanol in high concentrations because it can be corrosive to some engine parts. Therefore, you should not use high ethanol content blends (like E85) unless you engine is designed for it. Another reason not to use ethanol in high concentrations is that it contains less power per gallon than the gasoline that it replaces. Using it in high concentrations will substantially reduce the performance of your car. In the future, you may be able to use butanol as a substitute for gasoline. It has several advantages over ethanol such as... - Almost the same power content as the gasoline it replaces. - Not corrosive. Unfortunately, ethanol wins hands down when it comes to which one is cheaper to make. Butanol is currently more expensive than the gasoline it replaces. That may not remain the case much longer. Look for technological advances in producing butanol that should reduce its price to be competitive with ethanol.

How many miles per gallon less with ethanol enhanced gasoline?

Expect around a 15% decline in fuel mileage over conventional gasoline. Ok, so if I'm paying $4.00 / gallon for 10 % ethanol gas and loosing 15 % mileage that means if I can find 100 % gasoline with no ethanol at $4.60 / gallon I'm getting basically the same thing. So if I pay $4.10 / gallon for real gas without ethanol, I just saved $.50 / gallon over the ethanol low output gas. This should make shopping allot easier, as long as the stations are required to post how much ethanol they are selling versus real gas.

What type of gasoline should I use in my 2008 Ford Taurus limited?

Open the fuel door and look for a sticker. Most will use regular unleaded gasoline that is no more than 10% ethanol.

Does gasoline have benzene in it?

Gasoline can contain benzene as a component, but the levels are generally regulated to minimize health risks. Benzene is a known carcinogen, so exposure should be limited. It's important to follow safety precautions when handling gasoline to minimize risk of exposure to benzene.

Would ethanol gasoline damage crank sensors on 2003 Nissan Altima crank sensors?

Should not. The crank sensor does not come in contact with the fuel nor the exhaust.

Why is ethanol a good fuel?

the answer is yes but not recommended.gasoline is much heavier than ethanol.ethanol is used where certain needs of the engine and its use are very different.gasoline in a every day daily driver should only be used for that vehicle using ethanol in a daily will not only cause heavy deposit build up on the valves but cause extreme heat and pressure inside the combustion chambers causing critical stress on the valve train,it can destroy pistons pre-maturellyand inevitably will stress the connecting rods.therefore i would not recommend using ethanol in stock vehicles.high horsepower engines that are designed to withstand above and beyond stock engines well ethanol is good for these engines and should really be used for this purpose.
