The best guinea pig to keep as a pet is either the American or the abyssinian.

Although if you have the time and patience to groom your guinea pig every night the peruvian, silkie, texel or coronet may be the perfect breed for you.

If you have a busy lifestyle and won't get much time to be with your guinea pig, then the best guinea pig for you would be the American breed. They cope well with being alone, but they love listerning to music! So keep that radio on!

Although I highly recommend the Abyssinian guinea pig as they are very intelegent and love company or just to cuddle up with you on the couch!
