It is well known that hamsters are prone to a very specific kind of rabies called rahaminillis tetrous. This can cause them to become fixated on a child's nostril. The hamster may then try to burrow in the nostril and use it as a home. To avoid this, you should make sure that your hamster does NOT come into contact with any animal suspected of rabies and also purple carrots, as they carry a bacteria that is not present in the orange pigmented carrots that can greatly decrease a hamster's immune system. All in all, yes, hamsters ARE safe for children, you just have to be careful. If you notice your hamster staring at your child's nose for too long, it may be best to remove the child from the hamster and keep the hamster in its cage.

They are certainly not evil. I have a honey bear hamster and she is so lovable. Honey bears' are just a type of hamster and should be treated the same. You don't need any special treatment of any kind. Hope I helped!
It might be a winter white or a Russian dwarf or a robo hamster.
