In America they take an average of all your graded work to get your overall grade. If you got an 80, 75, and 65, they would do 80+75+65=220,
then divid 220 by the number of grades they added together, which in this case is 3. 220/3=73.3 which I think is a C.

In the US navy all types of math are used, from simple arithmetic (how many gallon cans of coffee do I break out this morning for 1200 people) to Quantum mechanics and calculus (Compute the reactivity quotient or find the Great God K, actual question from Nuclear Power school) It pays to study and get good grades in higher mathematics if you want a decent job besides cleaning urinals in the Navy.
A one room schoolhouse is one kind of school that was used back then. One room schoolhouses usually had at least 1-6 grades in one room!! And that was the whole school one room!!
