It's not a personality disorder or a 'mental disorder' in any of the usually accepted senses. It's often called 'self-hate', but this does NOT mean that a self-hating person (in this sense) is suicidal or anything like that. This kind of 'self-hate' is sometimes found among some members of various oppressed groups. The 'self-haters' have internalized some of the views that their oppressors have of them. Even if they don't actually share these prejudices, they have real difficulty accepting and identifying with their ethnic and cultural background or 'heritage'. In extreme cases they may even be deeplyashamed of their origins. The problem is often seen as one of group pyschology as well as (or even more than) individual psychology. It depends what type of disorder you mean...rocking yourself to sleep isn't a sign of disorder...it may be a sign that your uncomfortable about your living space or there might be something in your life that troubles you anything like that could be the cause x

Self diagnosis of any disorder is very difficult, since you tend to see yourself as NORMAL. It is best to consult with an impartial professional.
If you think or suspect yourself you have a bipolar disorder you need to book an appointment to your physician immediately. The physician will take some tests from you.
If you are deemed to be a threat to yourself and/or to others by a health professional or a court of law because of that disorder, you could be committed to a psychiatric facility until it is determined that you are no longer a threat to yourself and/or to the community.
