As a 56 year old man with an A.A. in business I can tell you not much. We're up against younger kids with B.A.'s and M.A.'s and then of course there's nepotism. But what I've found that in service industry jobs our life experience along with the A.A. definitely helps in the area of supervision/lower management. Security is a good bet for fairly quick advancement Low pay and seldom benefits in general unless you shoot for the company's that have state or federal contracts. If you go this route stick to the state and fed contracts. Good pay, good benefits and when the company looses the contract; as long as the client likes you, all you do is change uniforms.
It really depends on your employment background But ANY education is good. Don't let people make you feel like an A.A. isn't good enough. Remember: Combine that with your life experience and you're a PHD compared to a lot of the young guys today. Why? Work ethic. It's getting to be a rare thing; as you know. The only people that show up on time and put in a day's work every day are over 45:)
Salary, earning potential, and marketability are not only determined by the type of field you are in and the degree you possess. It depends on your position within that field, the institution you work for, your experience, expertise, personal abilities, critical thinking skills, problem solving abilities, dedication and commitment toward ones work, and more. Thus, salary is not so much dependent on the type of degree as much as it is dependent on the person who holds the degree.
