People who were thrown into the Underworld for their sins.
Autolycus son of Hermes and father of Anticleia who might have had Odysseus by Sisyphus.
Merope, the daughter of the Titan Atlas. Other lovers of Sisyphus included Tyro (she killed her two sons by him) and Anticlia (mother of Odysseus).
He saw Zeus take away the nymph Aegina and told her father, the river god Asopus. Zeus was so angry that Sisyphus, a mortal, had dared betray his secrets, that he sent Death after him.
he made it from his dad
King Sisyphus was made to roll a huge boulder up a steep hill. Before he could reach the top, however, the massive stone would always roll back down, forcing him to begin again.
im wondering the same thing....odyssey study guide for book 11? hahaa In Book 11, after Odysseus talks with the spirits of the Underworld, he sees Tantalus and Sisyphus. Both men had been punished for a crime they had done. Tantalus was favored by the gods and could eat the food of the gods, ambrosia, but he shared the food and then was punished. He now can never eat or drink any food or liquid. Sisyphus' story was a little different. He was evil and would murder travelers. He also betrayed the secrets of the gods and chained Thanatos, the Greek personification of death, so he couldn't reach the Underworld. Sisyphus was also punished for all eternity. His punishment was that he was forced to roll a big stone up a steep hill. Every time the stone would get to the top, it would fall all the way back down and Sisyphus would have to start again. Both of Tantalus and Sisyphus' punishments weren't very good and they must have been pretty bad people to deserve those punishments. I think that they are pretty bad to deserve such punishments. This is what I make of Tantalus and Sisyphus.
Tantalus and Sisyphus are two characters from Greek mythology who were punished in the Underworld eternally. Tantalus was made to stand under a fruit tree and in a puddle of water, but could not eat or drink- the fruit avoided him, and the water receded. He had killed his son and tried to make the gods eat him. Sisyphus was punished by having to attempt to roll a rock uphill forever. He had betrayed Zeus to a river-god, as Zeus had kidnapped the river-god's daughter in the form of an eagle. Seeing this, Sisyphus told the river-god, incurring the wrath of Zeus upon him.
Sort of. If you are a Greek person, and u worship the Greek gods and goddesses, then yo mite. Tartarus is known to be hell, for people like Sisyphus, Tantalus, and many others.
Tantalus, whose name is the origin of the word "tantalize". He served the gods his son as the main course of dinner, and for that was damned to eternal starvation and thirst. I think that was him- it might have been Sisyphus. The story, not the punishment; Sisyphus was doomed to roll a rock up a hill forever.
