The work force for the Great Pyramid was most likely a mixed one of slaves and free workers. All the skilled, supervisory and administrative tasks would have been done by free workers. The slaves would have done heavy dangerous work such as quarrying, dragging the stones, putting them in place, extending and repairing the ramps used to raise the stones to the required level.
It is estimated that 20,000 to 30,000 workers would have been needed for the task.
Craftspeople such as masons, carpenters, ropemakers, surveyors and metal workers
Scribes who acted as administrators and project managers
Thousands of slaves to do all heavy laboring jobs. The slaves were naked too low in status to be given clothes.
