Air sickness or Motion sickness is pretty much the same thing and is common among a VERY small number of air travelers. If you get car sick or sea sick you may be likely to get Air sick. If cars & boats don't get you, then not much chance for air sickness.

Today's passenger planes are very smooth and pressurized and seeing anyone getting airsick is very rare.

Airsick is caused by the inner ear & changes in pressure and direction, that is different that what we experience on the ground. Mostly nausea, vomiting and some sweats are the common symptoms.

If you can get a window seat, be sure to focus on the horizon, not looking down but keep your head from wagging around, the trick is to keep that inner ear from spinning.

Eat a lite meal 2-3 hours before flight time & avoid grease & booze, drink only water on the way to the airport and on the plane & you will be fine, again it is VERY rare to see anyone airsick on a passenger plane these days.
