Temperate Forest.
The soil type in temperate forests is typically loamy, which consists of a mix of sand, silt, and clay. This type of soil is fertile, well-draining, and supports a diverse range of plant life. However, the exact composition can vary depending on local conditions and parent material.

There is no direct connection between the forest and the rocks underneath its soil. You can get deciduous forest on any type of soil if the climatic conditions are right.
Temperate Deciduous Forest
Temperate forests can have quite a variety of different soil types. Part of it depends on the kind of trees growing there, the landscape (flat, mountainous, rolling hills, etc.), the type of parent material in which the soil formed, and the age of the soil. The only environmental factor that is defined by "temperate forest" is the climate. The climate is fairly rainy, with mild to hot summers and mild to cold winters. The fertility of the soils will generally become less fertile the warmer the climate gets. Many mature temperate forest soils have subsoils higher in clay than the surface horizons, because of what happens when the breakdown products of fallen leaves and needles are moved into and through the soil with rain and snow melt.

A sample of soil from a temperate deciduous forest would be less nutrient-rich than the soil from a tropical rain forest, because the moisture would continually break down mulch to support a bigger variety of organisms.Tropical rain forests naturally support more species than a deciduous forest too.
