Cheetahs can growl, whine, and make a bird like chirping sound. Cubs tend to chirp more often than adults, but all cheetahs can chirp. They cannot roar as you would think of roaring. They instead sound like a loud barking growl when roaring.
It is hard for other cheetah's to warn one another but the sounds a cheetah does make is: chirping yelping, growling, snarling and bleating sounds as well as purring!
