The witches in Macbeth do not have individual names. They are only referred to as the three witches or the Weird Sisters.
they are the 3 weird sisters
They are called "weird sisters". "Weird" actually meant "knowing" which explains why they know about the future.
They can be vindictive.
The quote "All's well, I dreamed last night of the three weird sisters" is from Shakespeare's play Macbeth. Macbeth says this line in Act 3, Scene 4 to Lady Macbeth after seeing the three witches (weird sisters) in his vision. It reflects his troubled state of mind and foreshadows the tragic events that will unfold in the play.
The witch's tale of the sailor indicates that the weird sisters are capable of causing harm and manipulating fate to influence events. This demonstrates their supernatural abilities and their malevolent intentions toward Macbeth.
Banquo says that to Macbeth in Act 2, Scene 1, Line 20.
Banquo: I dreamt last night of the three weird sisters. To you they have shown some truth. Macbeth: I think not of them.
It may be argued that Macbeth is bewitched the moment he sets eyes on 'the weird sisters; on the heath. Lady Macbeth is affiliated with the witches and persuades Macbeth when he loses his 'courage' to murder Duncan and therefore lust after the power of the throne.
Shakespeare only uses this word in one play, Macbeth, and then almost always in the phrase "weird sisters", although there is one "weird women". The reason is that "weird" was not a word used in Shakespeare's time at all, except in the phrase "weird sisters", which referred to the characters in mythology, the Fates. "Weird Sisters" were women who could tell or determine the Fate of others, as indeed the witches do in Macbeth. In Middle English a weard was a prophecy or prophet. The word "weird" used in anything but this specialized sense has arisen since entirely and exclusively because of Shakespeare's use of it.
At first, Macbeth dismisses the witches' prophecies, but when he receives the additional thaneship, he starts to believe that the whole prophecy is possible.
Banquo says, in Macbeth, "I dreamt last night of the three weird sisters. To you they have shown some truth."
