Riku's primary weapons, although sword-like, are in fact Keyblades. He uses both the Soul Eater and Way to the Dawn Keyblades in the Kingdom Hearts series, both of which resemble swords. In the Mission Mode of Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days, when you play as Riku, every weapon panel makes his weapon the Soul Eater, while the Zero Gear gives you Way to the Dawn. The only other Keyblades that Riku are seen with are the Keyblade of People's Hearts (also known as the 'Dark Keyblade') and the Oblivion Keyblade.
You can not phisically use Riku's "Way to the Dawn", but in the final battle with Xemnas Riku lends Sora his keyblade to finish Xemnas off.
Towards the end, you use Riku to battle Xemnas, in Final Form. Riku is only a playable character once.
You can only play him once, and that's when you and Riku are fighting Xemnas for the last time. Sora get's captured by Xemnas and you have to use Riku to save him
I believe he uses a sword.
No, only Riku can.
Riku's sword is, indeed a Keyblade, a keyblade like King Mickey's that was produced from the realm of darkness. Originally it was named Soul Eater, in KIngdom Hearts: Chain of Memories. Afetr his fight with Ansem in Castle Oblivion, he then realized his heart's purpose. He was a being of Twilight. After he escaped the castle, DIZ a.k.a Ansem The Wise made Riku choose three paths, the right one to light, the middle to twilight, and the left to dark. Riku chose the middle and stated that his road is the road to dawn. It was probably during his travels, he a quired his Keyblade, which is rightly named Way to the Dawn.
