Stress can be blamed for many diseases and conditions that afflict people--ulcers, high blood pressure, sleep disturbance, depression, relationship problems---stress can infect every area of a person's life and, over the long term, plays a huge role in the development of Heart disease, atherosclerosis and the immune system. Stress alerts the body to "fight or flight", and since we humans don't typically have those options in the modern world, it turns inward on our bodies and causes these problems and more.
