Colonial doctors used a lot of herbs, and ground them in a motor and pestle to make cures for patients. They used a lot of tree bark, witch they would cut off from trees with a knife. They also used knives to bleed patients, witch really didn't' help, and leaches to suck the blood of injured wounds. If a person had a head ache, they would give them walnuts, and if they thought a person had kidney problems, they would give people kidney beans. They used alcohol to drunken a person who was about to be given surgery to reduce the pain, and people who were sick were often put in a very hot or cold bath. Doctors also used teas, juices, and powders for cures.

Bonus: Doctors had a very large interest in plants, and would often test with different plants to make cures.

doctors often used herbs or vitamins even amputation was used if a limb was infected. but most of the amputations made the infection worse because the doctors did not use clean knives, therefore the equipment was not sterile. so they spread germs and things like aids and yellow fever around to other people.
