Most were common fishermen.
The twelve apostles were chosen by Jesus to preach the Gospel. St. Paul was chosen to be the "rock" of the church. Jesus gave him the responsibility to build his church and to essentially recruit people to join.
Jesus did not create Catholicism. The apostles, after Jesus died, started Christianity. Catholicism was kind of the same thing because the apostle, Peter, was the first pope... not really sure how that part worked out, actually.

Jesus taught keep it. Matthew 5:18-19.Clearly Paul is teaching a different kind of Christianity than that of Jesus.

Jesus was a kind, gentle man. He did not curse cities or have them destroyed. You are thinking of what God did in the Old Testament, thousands of years before Jesus the Christ was born.
If you are a Christian, you believe Jesus gave the ultimate gift of friendship-- he sacrificed his life so that humanity could be forgiven for their sins. But in the New Testament, it does not talk much about Jesus's friends. He had apostles, followers, family, and people he deeply cared about; he did many kind deeds for others. But we are told very little about his friends. Instead, we are told how he loved humanity.
The physical Jesus lived long before the start of Islam. However, the written Word of God is the Bible and it tells all humans to treat others as Jesus treated people - peacefully and tenderly overall.
