Best Answer

Any earring will be safe if you clean it properly.

Gold and sterling silver (as long as you're not allergic to either metal) are usually the best though.

'Sleeper' rings are probably the very best though, as you can move them around.

But make sure that you don't change the studs you were pierced with until six weeks after they've been pierced.

The most common types of earrings that can cause infections in earlobes are those with mixed metals that usually contain nickel. Alloys and mixed unlike metals can also create problems because sweat can cause an electrochemical reaction.

Is stainless steel earrings more effective to cause a ear infection then gold earrings?

Are stainless steel earrings ........ - you say are because the word 'earrings' means more than one.I think stainless steel is not more likely to cause infection than gold. If both kinds are clean at the start and kept clean there should be not trouble. Some people have a reaction to cheap 'gold' earrings.

I always lose my earrings so I would like to know if it would be safer to get pierced earrings that have screw on backs or traditional pin backs?

If you are often times losing your earrings, it is probably because you are using traditional pin backs. Either type of back is safe as long as the screw backs are not put on too tightly and cause infection.

How do you prevent yourself from getting infection?

It depends where you want to prevent an infection. If it is your lips, use chapstick(especially in the winter) and special antibiotics that prevent infection around your lips. If it is your ears, use Hydrogen Peroxide (Walgreens) and Rubbing Alcohol to prevent any bacteria from causing an infection. You must be especially careful if you have newly pierced ears. An ear infection may cause the skin to grow over the earring, making it attached to the ear. An ear infection can also cause your hole for your earrings to close up.

What earrings should you get your ears pierced with?

You don't get your ears pierced with earrings. You have them pierced by a needle and then the hole is filled with an earring. There are gold stud earrings which are less likely to cause an allergic reaction.

Can you wash your hair with newly pierced ears?

Yes just make sure you have no earrings onOn the contrary - it is important to keep earrings in your newly pierced ears. Health professionals recommend constantly keeping your earrings in for around 6 weeks while the healing takes place. Trying to reinsert an earring into a newly pierced ear if you take it out can cause tearing, bleeding and other damage. The only circumstances under which you should remove earrings from a new piercing is if the area shows signs of infection.
