Not really, if you think about it, blood is a viscus liquid that sits on the surface of your hands and has dimension and reflective properties of its own. It also has the tendency to change colour as it dries. The older the blood, the more it look brown (not red), which is why movies, Halloween "haunted houses" and TV shows always have it wrong. Red food colouring is too bright, absorbs into your skin, and has no "dimension."
