Gunpowder- Of course this later added on to another Chinese invention the Firework but, for now all you need to know about gunpowder is that it was discovered by Chinese alchemists trying to make an elixir of immortality in the 9th Century.
Compass- Last the Compass I do not remember the date on this oe but the first ones made were dry compasses as they were known during the reigns of the Song then the Yuan Dynasty. The dry compass never became as widely used as the wet compass.
