you should be all level around 55 or up because the elite 4 have lvl 60 and sometimes more so you need good Pokemon but you don't need to spend too much time training just buy a lot of healing items and stuff.
actually, Cynthia, the Pokemon champion has Pokemon at level 70 or so, so you should get them to around 80 to ensure you win. level 55 will barely let you beat your rival. (you should still bring healing items, though)
Cynthia's best Pokemon is at level 62 or so and if you have Pokemon level 55 to 65 and have plenty of healing items so good luck
