The theme familiar to millions of kids in the 50s to early 70s was titled "Puffin' Billy," and was written by Edward White, a British composer of light classical pieces. Several of them were used on British TV, including "Puffin' Billy," which was written to depict a steam locomotive White saw while visiting the Isle of Wight. It was first used as the theme of a children's show in England and then the American Saturday-morning show, Captain Kangaroo.
