When you see green and white lights on another boat, you should slow down. This means that you are approaching another boat and you should reduce your speed.
Lights
Boat anchor lights have either a white or a clear lens, and should have 360 degree visability.
If you are on the boat facing forward, The red light should be on the left (port) side, shining out forward and to the left. It should NOT be visible from directly behind or from the right side of the boat. Both red and green lights should ONLY be visible from directly in front of the boat.
When sailing a boat in reduced visibility you should turn on and use your lights. The light s should be in the correct position and set to the correct code. If you have radar, use this to make sure you are not on a collision course with a boat with out any lights. If you believe it is to risky to navigate, anchor up for the night making sure you have the correct lights and signals.
seeing the Red & Green lights without knowing what they are telling you means you should not be the operator of a boat of any kind until you learn that they are Navigation lights and even if you are not operating a power boat, you still need to understand what they mean. I suggest you do a boat lic. course before you cause an accident.
