Yes it is. Oxygen has 8 protons and 8 neutrons, while carbon has 6 protons and 6 neutrons (on average). Therefore, because oxygen has more protons and neutrons it is bigger.

Is a hydrogen atom bigger smaller or the same size as an oxygen atom?

Hydrogen atoms are the smallest known elements, and therefore smaller than oxygen atoms (according to atomic weight and atomic mass).

Why in a water molecule is the oxygen atom bigger then the nitrogen atom?

First of all, there is no nitrogen in a water molecule. A water molecule consists of one oxygen atom combined with two hydrogen atoms. Also known as H2O. However, it is also true that an oxygen atom is slightly bigger than a nitrogen atom. Oxygen has one more proton, and one more electron than nitrogen does. Neutron quantities vary, since there is more than one isotope of both oxygen and nitrogen.

Is the mass of a hydrogen atom 16 times greater than an oxygen atom?

No, it is inverse.

How many times larger is the hydrogen atom than the oxygen atom in a polysaccharides?

2 times

What kind of charge is found on the oxygen atom of polar water molecule?

In a water molecule, the oxygen atom shares electrons with two hydrogen atoms, but it does not share equally since it has a stronger attraction for electrons than the hydrogen atom does, and the electrons therefore have a greater probability of being close to the oxygen nucleus than to the hydrogen nuclei. As a result, the oxygen atom has a negative charge. The hydrogen atoms are positively charged.

Is a molecule of oxygen larger than a molecule of hydrogen?

A single oxygen atom is smaller than a molecule.

How much bigger is a hydrogen atom than a proton?

A hydrogen atom has a diameter of about 60 picometers while a proton has a diameter of 1.75 femotometers. So a hydrogen atom's diameter is about 35,000 times that of a proton.

Why does the oxygen atomhave more electrons surrounding it than a hydrogen atom?

A hydrogen only has one valence electron, while oxygen has 6.

Why is it impossible for helium or hydrogen to emit an alpha particle?

Because an alpha particle is bigger than a helium or hydrogen atom.

How are water and hydrogen different?

Water is H2O and hydrogen perioxide is H2O2 hydrogen peroxide has one more oxygen atom than water.

Explain why in a covalent bond between oxygen and hydrogen the hydrogen atom has a partial positive charge and the oxygen atom has a partial negative charge?

Because, unless bonded to another hydrogen atom, the "covalent" bond is actually partially ionic, meaning the electron shared in the bond tends to spend more time close to the other atom making the hydrogen partially positive. This is due to electronegativity. Most other atoms are more electronegative than hydrogen, meaning they have a stronger attractive force for electrons than hydrogen does, so the other atom pulls on the hydrogen more strongly and ends up being more negative in the bonding pair than hydrogen.

What makes regions of a water molecule more positive then negative?

Electronegativity differences. There are more protons in an oxygen atom than in a hydrogen atom, so any electrons being shared between them (as in the covalent bond) are more likely to be near the oxygen atom than the hydrogen atoms. This results in a slight net negative charge surrounding the oxygen atom, and slight net positive charges surrounding the hydrogen atoms.
