Sublimation, being the process of going from solid to gas, is unique because of the bypass around the liquid phase. A lot of material exhibit this behavior under specific conditions. An example of this is the "smoke" vapors coming off dry-ice.

Because it happens when a solid absorbs heat and turns into a gas without melting and going through the liquid phase. This is an uncommon occurence as there arn't many solids that can do just that.

The process of turning a gas into a liquid?

The process of liquid heating and changing into vapor is called as vaporization. The particles in gas are moving faster compared to that of liquid so it needs a high input energy for the liquid to convert to gas.

Which is the slow process evaporation or boiling?

Evaporation is very slow at converting liquid to gas compared to boiling.

What is the process by which particles escape from the surface of a non-boiling liquid?

Molecules speed up when they are turned from liquid into vapor. This is because they have more freedom to move around due to gaseous properties. Gases conform to the volume of the container, so they have more room to spread out, compared to liquids that do not have the ability to change volume

Which is the type of separation technique being demonstrated in the figure?

There is distillation, evaporation, chromatography, using of separating funnel, centrifuging, desalination, fractional distillation, crystallization, fractional crystallization, decanting, filtration, sublimation and fractional sublimation. Decanting is the process where it is used to separate the liquid from the denser solid(s) by simply pouring the liquid out from the beaker. Filtration is the process where a filter paper and funnel is used. It is used to separate the liquid from the solid(s), mostly suspensions. The residue is then collected on the filter paper. A separating funnel is used when there are two liquids and one is denser than the other. The denser liquid will sink, thus an outlet at the bottom is opened for the denser liquid to flow out. When the denser liquid is drained, the outlet is shut. The cap of the funnel is then open for the less dense liquid to be poured out. Crystallization is a process where a thermally unstable mixture is heated till about a third of the solvent is left to obtain the crystals, or it will decompose. Evaporation is where a thermally stable is heated till dryness to obtain the crystals. Chromatography is the use of a chromatography paper and dyes. This is to separate the dyes from each other, based on their solubility in water. They can also be used in a police case, where evidences such as ink and dyes are compared to see which matches, food dyes and the patient's urine for medical purposes. Desalination is the process of separating water from sea water through evaporation and condensation. Distillation is the evaporation and condensation of a water from a mixture. This can be used to obtain distilled mineral water. Fractional distillation is the process where the mixture is separated by differences in their boiling points. The substance with the lower boiling point will reach the top of the fractionating column first, where it is then condensed. Centrifuging is used to separate the solid(s) from the liquid. The mixture spun very fast around the centrifuge tube in the centre of the beaker. The solid(s) will then be forced into the tube. Sublimation is the process where a solid is immediately turned to gas. The gas will then be condensed. This method is used when separating two solids. This is when one solid sublimes while the other does not.

What produces more severe burns boiling water or stream?

stream will produce more severe burns than waterAdded:Steam causes more severe burns as compared to boiling water because steam contains more heat (i.e 40.6 kJ/mol condensation heat) then boiling water, both at the same temperature 100 oC.From that condensation is momentanous when in contact with skin, after being liquefied it behaves the same as boiling water: still 100 oC and cooling down is slower than condensation.

What are the differences between dye-sublimation printers used by professionals as compared to home or small business users?

Most dye-sublimation printers for the home or small business user, by contrast, typically print images in only one or two sizes and are much slower than their professional counterparts. Roosh Saudi Arabia

What would be a brief project description for does the rate of evaporation of water depend upon the temperature?

The fact is this is not the variable you should be looking at rather the Relative humidity and the air pressure takes a part in it if you have a low RH you will get fast evaporation compared to high humidity where the water has no where to go.

Where can fat be found in the body?

Fat is subcutaneous i.e. it is found below the skin. Some body parts like thighs, abdomen and hips have more fat deposition as compared to others.

What are the advantages of owning a Kodak professional 1400 digital photo printer?

There are several advantages of owning a Kodak Professional 1400 printer compared to other models. First it retails for a lower price compared to older models. Secondly it's a dye sublimation type of printer which gives better colour accuracy compared to inkjet printers. Lastly it has a fast print speed.

Why water evaporate faster in a china dish as compared to test tube?

Evaporation is a process that occurs only at the surface of a liquid. If the same volume of liquid is put in a dish rather than a test tube then the liquid will have a bigger surface area allowing more room for evaporation.

If a solvent evaporates from a solution does the concentration stay the same?

The concentration will increase since the quantity of the solved material increases compared to the quantity of the solvent which is lost due to solvent evaporation.
