Most newer models of cars now have a safety design that allows the headlights to stay on for a few minutes before shutting themselves off to allow the occupants to safely get to a door or gate. Also, on many newer model vehicles, if the lights are turned off before the ignition, the lights will stay off. If the lights are turned off after the ignition, the lights stay on to illuminate your way. If the light switch is off and the lights stay on longer than a few minutes, then something is wrong.
This is a standard feature on many modern vehicles now. The lights come on to aid you in getting safely from your vehicle to your door (aasuming they are pointing in the right direction). The lights should not be full strength and should turn off automatically in less than two minutes. Usually, if you wantthat door to door light, turn off the ignition first, before turning off the lights. If you don't want the light, turn off the lights first, then the ignition.
Headlights might stay on in a Honda Odyssey after the engine is turned off because of a courtesy timer. The headlights will stay on for a few seconds after exiting the vehicle so the driver can go into a building at night safely. If the headlights are staying on all the time, check the timer for this feature.

Most headlight circuit breakers are located in the headlight switches. Headlights are on a circuit breaker automatic reset so headlights don't go out if there is a problem and will blink on and off to get you off the road safely until you can fix the problem. Look for a short in the wiring between the headlight switch and the headlights themselves.
You can provided the protecting breaker for the circuit is 20 Amps or less.
You can safely put 48 regular (incandescent) 40 watt lights on a 20 amp circuit. If at some future date you might place higher wattage lights in the circuit, you will want to limit the number of lights to 20.
