Early it is said that Sirius is a servant of Voldemort imprisoned for murdering the wizard Peter Pettigrew and twelve muggles. Others later reveal that Sirius, who was a friend to Harry's parents, betrayed them to Voldemort. At the end, however, Sirius is shown to be innocent and that he was framed by Pettigrew. Pettigrew, it turned out, had faked his own death by creating an explosion and turning into a rat, killing the muggles in the process. He was the one who had betrayed Harry's parents.
