Pure Polish Arabians are Arabians of Polish breeding who's sire and dam are also of pure polish bloodlines. There are many dam-lines in use today, and roughly 30 sire lines that are of pure Polish decent. Typically these horses are refined, yet athletic, and this particular strain gave rise to the legendary sires Wielki Szlem, * Witez II, and Witraz, who sired the * Bask++.

Is the Arabian the purest horse breed?

The Arabian horse is believed to be the purest horse breed in the world. Because the Arabian does not have any recordable (or traceable) outside influences, it is said to be a "pure" breed. The Arabian though was used to influence many, many breeds of horses including common breeds such as the Thoroughbred.

What is the difference between an Arabian horse and a Shagya Arabian horse?

The Shagya Arab was developed in the Austro-Hungary Empire in the 19th century. Considered a subspecies because of non-Arab bloodlines bred into this horse, whereas a regular registry Arabian is pure. (no other breed of horse) The giveaway here is the date of origin. The 19th century is about 100 years ago. Regular registry Arabians can trace their bloodlines back thousands of years.

What breed was George Washington's horse Nelson?

My research has indicated that "Nelson" was a pure-bred Arabian. A breed known for its endurance, strength, and intelligence. The Arabian Stallion "Mustafa al Zarina" of Somerset Park Arabian Farm has been noted as an "extreemely accurate look-a-like of President Washington's favorite horse." I have found a website for that breeding farm: somersetparkarabians.com . They have many pictures of this horse as well as others. I found it interesting and informative on the breed, and horses in general.
