If it has a distributor, then that is what drives the oil pump. The camshaft is what makes the distributor turn.
If it does not have a distributor then the gear on the oil pump slides over the front of the crankshaft and turns when the crankshaft turns and that is what makes the oil pump work. Early 99 models had a distributor, and the late 99 did not have one.

Too much oil in any engine is bad news ... it makes the oil pump work that much harder trying to move oil to places where there is no room. Could cause some major engine failure, including blowing the oil pump, which in turn when it goes, soon after the engine will sieze.
The oil pump on a 1992 Nissan Truck cannot get out of time or sync with the engine. It physically locks into position and will constantly pump oil unless the shaft break or becomes detached.
It is in the oil pan.
