Sounds like one of the door switches or wire running to them is shorted to ground, since the indicator and cab light are looking for a ground to come on. Some vehicles will not allow power door locks to work while doors are ajar.

They are pretty secure. You may need to check the locks on the doors and if they are not secure, you can always replace them for more secure locks.

You need to get a quick disconnect tool from any parts house to remove the fuel lines.
A landlord could get in trouble with the husband for changing the locks, but that seems unlikely, especially with a letter from the wife asking that they be changed. There is also no reason why the wife cannot change the locks herself.
I believe the handle and locks are configured different. Also the locations of the screws for the armrests etc. May be able to be done but going to take some mods.
