Pride and Prejudice is a realistic novel because it shows how life was for young women in England in the 1700s. It also shows what kind of language was used in the 1700s. Some of the places in Pride and Prejudice are real, such as Derbyshire, which is a county in the Midlands, so it describes how Derbyshire, amongst other places, was in the 1700s.

This is mostly just my own opinion, but this is honestly my favorite novel ever. I've read it 3 or 4 times, and it is definitely not for everyone... but I think that that is one of the reasons why I like it so much. Most authors do not write like Jane Austen did anymore, it is written in a beautiful and sophisticated language that needs to be appreciated.

A lot of people feel that Pride and Prejudice is just drama, and a glorified chick-flick, but it really isn't. It is a story about love and friendship, society and convention, everything you can think of. This novel was controversial for its time, and I will ALWAYS go for those novels before anything else because it means the author and publishers felt that it was worth the risk for people to read it. And it definitely has stood the test of time; it wouldn't still be around, and wildly popular, if it was a terrible book!

People can relate to this novel, whether you are a man or a woman. I feel like most of today's popular romance movies or novels all follow at least one of Austen's plot lines. A woman overcoming adversity to find love, shattering familial obligations and social conventions even in the most unexpected of partners?... Sounds like every Disney Princess movie ever made to me. She pioneered making these stories readable and wonderful, and Pride and Prejudice is no exception.

It is funny. It is bright. It is insightful. And I am very fond of Lizzy. It is easy to believe she could be real, and it is easy to believe she could do the things she does.
