The glottis is basically the opening to the pharynx. The pharynx is just the throat. Also, just so you know, the epiglottis is the flap of skin around the glottis that closes up when you're eating, so you don't choke.
The pharynx is an anatomical region that is located posterior to the oral and nasal cavities. There are muscles that make up the pharynx including the superior pharyngeal constrictor, the palatopharyngeus, stylopharyngeus and salpingopharyngeus. It's more of a muscular tube than an actual muscle.
The pharynx is the scientific term for the throat. The pharynx is a passageway from the mouth and nose to the esophagus and larynx.
