"PTFE" or "Bioplast" are both good materials that are bio-compatable and safe to use during surgery, they will not effect x-ray or cat scan equipment and will not conduct electricity so they are safe for defibrillators.

Can you go into surgery with a fairly new piercing I am going to get getting surgery on my nose and am thinking of getting my bellybutton pierced about 3 months prior to the surgery?

It shouldn't present a problem unless you get infected and the infection persists until the time of operation. Any infection present during surgery increases the risk of complications. They may ask you to remove the jewelry for the procedure but you can just get a retainer for it by going to a professional piercer or going to a reliable body jewelry store online

You have to take out your nose piercing for your job will it close?

It depends on how long you've had it pierced for. Even if you've had it for 2 years, taking it out for even 6 hours could make it hard to put back in. I suggest getting a retainer (http://www.bodycandy.com/cgi-bin/category/retainers) to use during work. If you just got it done within the last month or so, you need to be careful about switching it to put the retainer in. If it isn't healed, taking out the piercing can cause scarring/infection/bump. If you can, talk to the piercer about what to do.

I go to School for about 6 hours and im not allowed to wear my nose stud and i have had it pierced for 1 month Will it close up after those 7 Hours?

Yes there is a very real possibility that the piercing will heal due to the jewellery being removed. I would suggest you find a clear nostril retainer to wear during school, this won't be easily visible to anyone unless they are right in your face and it will prevent the piercing from closing. There has to be some give and take from the school, a retainer should not be an issue, if it is then you need to talk to your parents and have a chat with school administration.

Are retainers good for an unhealed lip piercing?

Ive had my lip piercing done for 3 1/2 weeks, I ordered a lip retainer when school told me to take out my metal stud. I went to my trusted piercer and ask them to put in my retainer , they had mega trouble getting it in (even with Vaseline ) and told me to go home and try in a couple days after the piercing was less irritated ( during my time at the piercers , my piercing went red, and swollen) ... The next day I sea salt soaked it, and rubbed alot of vaseline on my piercing and the retainer , it slipped in after 2 tries... About half an hour my piercing wasn't red , and the swelling went straight down again . I think retainers are excellent ... My piercing is healing alot quicker then my sisters lip piercing ( shes always had metal bars) . Just be careful not to irritate it, have a couple attempts and if not going in then leave it till the next day. But overall , go for it! First off, don't use vaseline. Its WAY too thick and prevents proper ventilation so it actually makes things worse. You can use vitamin E oil as lubrication instead. Glass or bioplast retainers are fine o use because they can autoclaved. Go to yourpiercer and they should have some in stock.

Can your septum piercing stink?

Septum piercings smell when healthy discharge from your piercing traps dead skin cells, bacteria, and other organic material. The smell is totally normal. Clean your piercing twice a day during healing and at least a few times a week after healing to prevent or get rid of sebum buildup and smell.

How do you wash a face with piercing on it?

Like you would without a piercing in it. You want to keep things like facial scrubs and skin treatments away from the piercing, these can cause issues for the piercing during the healing process.

Does the body smell during surgery?

The human body still has a smell, even during surgery, but if the person wasn't smelly to begin with, then the person will most likely not smell during surgery.

Does a hernia have anything to do with your belly button?

There are various types of hernia, but one is the umbilical hernia, which occurs behind the belly button. This one was from a colon surgery at the belly button. Can I wait for surgery, what is the dangers and how can I tell if its getting worse? This isn't something you should self-diagnose or self-monitor. You need to see your doctor - preferably the doctor who referred you for, or performed, the initial surgery - for assessment; don't put this off, it will only play on your mind and worry you, when it might turn out to be no problem at all. I had a piercing client come in with what she though was a piercing issue with her navel piercing, it was in fact a hernia and was unrelated to her piercing, but it actually saved her life. Had she not come in to see me she would have gone on her trip to Mexico and it would have ruptured during the plane flight. But she came in, I noticed the issue and sent her to her doctor who sent her directly to the hospital for emergency surgery. Professional body piercers are observant and smart. Oh yes she recovered nicely then went to Mexico to recover by the beach. Jzuk

How a nose piercing look the day after?

A nostril piercing will look like a nostril piercing the next day, there may be some light redness but this will ease off during the healing period.
