What is The degree of compactness of a substance is the definition for what?

Compactness is the ability of a material to reduce its volume by pressing.

Is the ability of a substance to dissovle in another substance?

Solubility is the "degree to which a substance dissolves in a solvent to make a solution (usually expressed as grams of solute per litre of solvent). Solubility of one fluid (liquid or gas) in another may be complete (totally miscible; e.g., methanol and water) or partial (oil and water dissolve only slightly). In general, "like dissolves like" (e.g., aromatic hydrocarbons dissolve in each other but not in water). Some separation methods (absorption, extraction) rely on differences in solubility, expressed as the distribution coefficient (ratio of a material's solubilities in two solvents). Generally, solubilities of solids in liquids increase with temperature and those of gases decrease with temperature and increase with pressure. A solution in which no more solute can be dissolved at a given temperature and pressure is said to be saturated."- merriam-webster.com

What is does solubility mean?

The quality, condition, or degree of being soluble or solvable; as, the solubility of a salt; the solubility of a problem or intricate difficulty., The tendency to separate readily into parts by spurious articulations, as the pods of tick trefoil.

Is solubility a hydrogen bonding?

Based on the grammar of your question, you have no idea what solubility is. Solubility- the degree to which a substance can dissolve in a solvent(usually water). Hydrogen bonding is an intermolecular force of attraction that decreases relative solubility.

What changes if the degree (amount) of intermolecular bonds of a substance are changed?

density of a substance and volume of a substance

Meaning of boiling point?

Boiling point is a temperature at which the substance starts boiling. Every substance and material can exist in 3 forms: gas, liquid and material. and for example the boiling point of a water is 100 degree celsius.

What is the specific heat of a substance?

The amount of heat a substance can hold.

What qualifications do you need to be a material scientist?

I got a degree in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Texas. Another degree offered there was Material Science & Engineering. It was a masters only degree meaning it will take you at least 6 years to obtain. Without this degree i would imagine you will find it very difficult to develop new chemical structures for developing or enhancing materials.

Will sand dissolve in water?

Technically yes, but not to any significant degree.

What is meant by relative density of a substance?

The relative density of a substance is defined as the ratio of density of any substance to the density of water at 4 degree celcius.Formula=Density of any substance/Density of water at 4 degree celcius.

What is the amount of energy that it takes to raise temperature of 1gram of substance by 1 degree kelvin?

Heat energy, although almost any energy will become heat. The amount of energy required depends on the substance.
