EGGS were an expensive delicacy which would be consumed by the poorest families only around once a year.

Lunch was usually a sandwich made from leftovers or a pie bought when funds allowed, and if money was short cheap soup was available in the street.

Up to 50% of the working class diet was made up of fruit and vegetables. Men tended to drink watered-down beer.

Evening meals generally centred around what was cooked on a Sunday -- usually roast or boiled meat often served with suet pudding. It was served again on Monday, as a stew and for Tuesday and Wednesday, and Thursday could be a rice or a lentil based dish served with bread. Friday was traditionally fish.

They ate rice if they were poor and drank water. If they were rich they would eat Rice with sauces, meat and veggies and pudding with chocolate icing on it. They would drink water first then Orange Juice and wine. They feasted on pork asshe rich families would eat meat like venison, pheasant, pork and chicken.

The poor people often nothing due to the vast level of deprivation. Many starved

to death daily at that time due to the issues of no food, no shelter no warmth. Those that dis have a little mincome may have had a goose rabbit the veg would have been found on floors or had started to rot but was reused. etc but nothing worth any substance and this would be shared amongst families of 8 plus.

Those that had stead income would have had chicken or beef, turkey plus a range of vegetables
