1) Joe McCarthy - Chicago Cubs in 1929 and New York Yankees in 1932, 1936-1939, 1941-1943.

2) Alvin Dark - San Francisco Giants in 1962 and Oakland Athletics in 1974.

3) Yogi Berra - New York Yankees in 1964 and New York Mets in 1973.

4) Dick Williams - Boston Red Sox in 1967, Oakland Athletics in 1972-1973, and San Diego Padres in 1984.

5) Sparky Anderson - Cincinnati Reds in 1970, 1972, 1975-1976 and Detroit Tigers in 1984.

6) Tony LaRussa - Oakland Athletics in 1988-1990 and St. Louis Cardinals in 2004, 2006.

7) Jim Leyland - Florida Marlins in 1997 and Detroit Tigers in 2006.

Anderson and LaRussa are the only two managers in MLB history to win the World Series with teams in both leagues. Anderson won with the 1975 and 1976 Reds and the 1984 Tigers. LaRussa won with the 1989 Athletics and 2006 Cardinals.

How are baseball playoff set up?

In the Major Leagues, the three teams that lead the Division in both leagues will make the Playoffs and the two teams from both leagues with the best record that don't lead the division will also make the Playoffs. Additionallly the two Wild Card teams in the American League will play each other in a one-game playoff and the two Wild Card teams in the National League will also play each other in a one-game playoff. The winner of the American League Wild Card game will continue on to the Division Series in order to play the Divisional Winner with the best record and the winner of the N.L. Wild Card game will also have to face the Divisional record with the best record but in the National League. The Divisional Series is a best of 5 series, the two winners in the A.L. will go on to face each other in the Championship Series and the 2 winners in the N.L. will also go on to face each other in the Championship Series which is a best of 7 series. The winners of the Championship Series will face each other in the World Series which is also a best of 7 series.
