Could be a bad wheel bearing
check the front of the engine at the bottom for an electrical plug
It's on the front side of the block, just above oil filter.
The problem is probably in the speed sensor.
the knock sensor is located toward the front of the engine block and it"s only used on ohc v6 engines. good luck!

To replace the crankshaft positioning sensor on a 1989 Ford Sho Taurus, go near the water pump at the front of the car and remove components that block access to the sensor. Remove the two bolts holding the sensor in place remove the wire that sends data. Finally, replace the crankshaft positioning sensor.
Mine has done this twice, both times it was the pulleys in the front of the engine. It could also be the belts.
