Franklin D. Roosevelt diagnosed with PolioThe 32nd President of the United States was Franklin D. Roosevelt. President Roosevelt was in office from March 4, 1933 until April 12, 1945 when he died of a cerebral hemorrhage. In 1921 Franklin D. Roosevelt was diagnosed with Polio and was permanently paralysis from the waist down. A recent study in 2003, reveled that it might have been Guillain-Barré syndrome, and not polio but it cannot be proven.
Franklin Roosevelt served as US President from 1932-1945, therefore it was certainly during that time
No president resigned in 1940. You might say Franklin Roosevelt re-signed a new Presidential contract in 1940 by running again and winning again. (1974 was the only presidential resignation when Nixon resigned due to Watergate.)
Franklin D. Roosevelt was president from 1933-1945. He could have traveled any way that you yourself travel, only the cars and airplanes would not have been as fast as modern ones.

Who the most famous President is is dependent on a number of factors. However, one might say that the first and the current are generally well know. That, at the time of this post, being Washington and Obama. Other "notables" who names continue to be well known over time include Jefferson, Lincoln, Theodore Roosevelt, J.F. Kennedy and Franklin Roosevelt.
Franklin Delano Roosevelt didn't have a nickname. Most people just called him Franklin as did the general American public. He loved the poor and did great things. He was everyone's friend. You might be thinking of Theodore Roosevelt whose nickname was Teddy because he loved to hunt and one day a bear was set loose in the White House woods. The man wanted Theodore to kill it but Teddy instead set it free. A short while after this the first teddy bear was made in honor of TR.
Franklin Roosevelt was a very liberal Democrat- more so than any before him. Therefore, he was naturally opposed by Republicans and conservative Democrats. You see the same thing today.
Franklin D. Rosevelt was elected for 4 terms, but died early into his final term; it was later changed to a maximum of two terms. The reason he won his third and fourth elections were primarily due to World War II. == ==
