101 Sears vendor code is Savage Stevens early to middle 50s . J C Higgins guns were sold from 1946 to 1962 How ever Stevens did not supply guns to JC Higgins until 1950 Your gun was Stevens 5100 double barrel shotgun a good shotgun .But the Tenite (plastic stocks) limit its appeal to the average shooter .A Stevens collector or J C Higgins collector would pay more .and the next thing is condition 100 to 250 dollars depending on condition maybe more in new or near new condition.CORRECTION: My grandfather was born in 1942 and when 6 years old received from his father a J.C. Higgins 101.25, and my grandfather still has the gun. So the mid-to-late 40's was the LATEST inwhich Stevens/savage started supplying firearms to sears

You must measure it. Different stocks were available.
The receiver and receiver cover are typically made of stamped steel (Though older/higher quality AKs are made of milled steel), with solid steel barrels. In under-folding AK47s the stocks are also made of stamped steel. In standard AK47s the stock and hand guard are made of wood. In more modern AK47s the pistols grips are made of plastic, while in classic AKs they were typically wood. Current-day AKs (The AK74 series) use the same barrel and receiver materials, with plastic stocks, handguards, and pistol grip.
