Hennig Brand was the discoverer of the element phosphoros. It was discovered in 1669 but the month and day is unknown.

The Cathode Ray Tube is called CRT, but I don't know of any "modern day" name. I know it was discovered by J.J. Thomson, who discovered electrons through the Cathode Ray Tube.

The elements that are newly discovered or are radioactive and found in traces are usually named according to a system of nomenclature based on their atomic nos.Eg. element 243 (if discovered, some day) will be named as biquadtrium (Bqt) which is NOT the proper symbol/name for the element.
