American alligator babies usually hatch in September or early October, depending on the temperature during the summer. A female American alligator lays 20 to 60 eggs in late June or early July after having mated in April or May. The eggs, which rely on the heat of the sun to mature, hatch in about ten weeks.
I work in a reptile rescue centre and I have alot of experience in the subject, in the wild alligators would mate every year to a different alligator every 1 hr this occasion lasts for two days to a week and usually occurs at night.
This is the way American alligators mate and they share the same patterns with the nile crocodile and the false and true ghariel.

Baby animals like alligators are born when they are ready or 75 years old this can be hard for the mother to get out. The mother has to have it to have a baby also.
