Most likely, the death blow to the dinosaurs came from the after effects of the Chicxulub asteroid impact event 65 million years ago. Changes to the atmosphere caused by the impact event would have led to the scarcity of food resources and starvation.

for A+ they say--- it was lack of food

  1. Late in the cretaceous several species of flowering plants evolved, most produced toxic alkaloids which killed many herbivorous dinosaurs thereby restricting carnivorous dinosaurs. (The alkaloids may have also killed directly many carrion eaters after they ate poisoned herbivores)
  2. 65 million years ago a meteor hit in the Caribbean near Mexico and exploded. This explosion was big enough to throw massive amounts of dust high in the atmosphere and cause massive firestorms throughout the Americas, adding smoke to the dust.
  3. This overcast in the short term caused several years of limited plant growth and massive dinosaur starvation.
  4. This overcast in the long term caused a severe ice age that kill most of the rest of the dinosaurs.

A large amount of evidence suggests that a meteorite struck Earth around 65 million years ago, setting off a chain of events - possibly including mass volcanism - that made Earth uninhabitable by anything larger than 20 pounds and without the ability to maintain its homeostasis (e.g. the majority of reptiles who couldn't find enough warmth).
