The British took the colonists out to dinner and that caused the colonists to really open up to them, they had a couple bottles of wine and found that they had a lot in common. Before you know it they were both back at the colonists place and the british were really hitting the colonists hard, but the colonists took it like champs and when the british ran out of seamen they returned home never to bother the colonists again.
In reaction to Stamp Act of 1764, which taxed all colonists including common man for the first time, the colonists decided to boycott the British goods. Before this colonists loved to dress like British and felt pride in doing that but after boycotting their goods, they started making clothes at home and now the trend changed. People who dress like poor were honored more because it showed their contribution towards loyalty to the colonies.
The colonists responded by turning the elite movement of the wealthy into a common movement of the people. The colonists went on to band together to fight the British.
The British colonists in America came from England, and therefore originally shared elements of a common culture!
