You can see snow on the top of Mt. Kilimanjaro, which is a mountain near the border of Kenya and Tanzania -- near the equator on the east side of Africa. The snow is due to the high altitude and the microclimate created by the mountain range which includes Kilimanjaro, Kenya and Meru.
Mt. Kilimanjaro (Kil-a-men-jar-o) is located in Tanzania, central east Africa: 19,340 feet / 5,895 meters.The "mountain" is an extinct volcano and its upper peak is covered with snow, although in recent years the snow cover is becoming thinner and thinner - this is being attributed to global warming.

It snow in few African countries on a un-regular basis in the winter, mostly on the high mountain ranges. It snow in the winter on the Drakensberg Mountains and also on some of the mountains in the Western Cape Province in South Africa. Snow also on a regular basis on the Atlas Mountain range in northern Africa (Marokko).
