I live near Sacramento, so I can answer this; there are no mountains REALLY close. The snow here in Sacramento is perfect; it's OVER THERE, in the mountains, where it's pretty, and not down here in the valley covering the roads.
To the east, about 40 miles away, we start getting into the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountain range. To the west, the coastal mountains including Mount Diablo are clearly visible most days. To the north, about 50 miles away, is a series of tall hills or low mountains called the Sutter Buttes.
About 150 miles north of us is Mount Shasta.
Sacramento Mountain Lions was created in 2009.
