For a car it depends what you are talking about if its for less air pollution, or a purring noise like most Civics. But for a truck, preferably V8, I would say Magnaflow straight pipes. They give your truck better fuel mileage and make it sound good. You can get different "grades" of sound. You can get 40s which are loud when you "git on her." But for a quiet rumble I'd go with grade 70. It purrs but it won't ,what most people would say, be obnoxious.
put a very cool muffler on it
Usually a sputtering muffler means that a new catalytic converter is needed. The sputtering sound is the car misfiring.
Even if you can't repair a faulty muffler yourself you can determine if the muffler is actually the problem. One of the first signs of a failing muffler is a change in the sound of your car when it starts and while it is running. The car will sound louder but you might not notice at first. If the muffler is not repaired the sound will definitely get louder and louder. In most towns sound pollution is an offense for which you will be written a ticket. That's only one reason to make sure your muffler gets fixed, and soon.
Maybe the muffler is bad.
Yes it will sound amazing get an induction kit to increase your engine sound
A free flow muffler can improve mileage but by not by much. It would take a long time to recoup the cost of a new muffler.
mufflers are an option for sure. your car will have a different sound with a good one. Though full exhaust systems are always better but it's always a matter of money..
IT is made to reflect sound back to the muffler to cancel sound out, so the sound you hear is what dodge wants you to hear. if you take it off, your factory muffler will sound like, loud, but you can get a singel after market muffler that is quiet with out the resonator.Even a new oem muffler will be loud, so go with an after market that works alone with out the resonator. Rember its a family van. Quiet is better.
The muffler makes your car run quiet
No it is not a bad thing. The muffler was invented to muffle the sound. The muffler does not enhance anything. However, the muffler stops the engine being noisy and it is a LEGAL requirement to have one, if you take it off, the police will stop and fine you and your car may be crushed.
You can drive a car without a muffler, but you should not. It is illegal. Driving without a muffler allows many pollutants into the air. Technically yes, a car can be driven without a muffler but there are a few good reasons not to do so. The most important risk of not having a muffler is that there are laws regarding sound levels and a car without a muffler might be over government approved noise levels resulting in not being in compliance with the law and the end result being a fine. Another reason for not doing so is the impact it would have on your vehicle. A muffler on a car will increase its performance, efficiency and power output. It will also decrease the wear and tear on the engines’ parts.
Generally a hold in the muffler will make your car sound excessively loud. Carbon Monoxide may also fill the cab of your car or truck and you should have it repaired as soon as possible to avoid exposure to lethal fumes.
