The deltoid muscle forms the shoulder. It is made of three sets (heads) and also seems to have seven groups. The sets are: 1. The anterior deltoid are commonly called front delts. 2. The side ones are commonly called lateral deltoid or middle delts, outer delts, or side delts. 3. The posterior ones are commonly called rear deltoid or rear delts.
